Leesa Shepherd - DfE Leader
Leesa Shepherd, now a principal consultant at the Department for Education in South Australia, talks about a whole school but personalised model of professional learning that she and her staff at Nairne Primary School instigated from 2011. Within 15 weeks it led to dramatic changes in literacy, numeracy and IT practices.
Nairne Primary School made a long term commitment to make whole school changes in literacy practices through the support of Sharon Callen at Cue Learning.
In 2019 Sharon is still working as a consultant at the school, working with leadership and directly with staff to develop profound changes across the school.
Besides making cultural shifts in teaching and learning, Nairne PS has been identified this year by ACARA as a one of a unique number of schools across Australia that have made exemplary gains in Naplan reading results.
